Executive Committee Minutes, May 7, 2008
***** N’ Bull Restaurant Attending: Larry Hembree, Ed Tilden, Rhett Bailey, Cari Pulliam, Henry Nechemius, Ashley Norton, Kirby Shealy, Lewis Kirk, Russell Jones 1. Larry Hembree called the meeting to order. 2. Rhett Bailey reported that there was $1759.00 in the neighborhood bank account. Lewis Kirk has begun sending out dues notices via email. 3. Cando Grant: Larry Hembree sent in the paperwork requesting $2487.57 to purchase sign toppers to identify our neighborhood. Charmaine Clark said that the funds are currently frozen for that grant. After the funds are unfrozen and we receive our grant money, labor will be done by the neighborhood Association. A Bloody Mary party was suggested as the kickoff event. 4. 4 Way Stops: Proposed 4-way stop signs to be place at the corners of Kalmia/Yale & Kalmia/Blossom were approved by the City Council, but denied by the State due to rural road rules. Anne Sinclair is currently working on the issue. Our neighbor, Doug Frate, lives on Kalmia and works for the DOT. Russell Jones said he would contact Doug. 5. Social: May 18, 2008 will be our Caribbean themed party in Robin Hood Court from 4-7pm. We are partnered with Piggly Wiggly via Hugh McColl (paper products) and Sammi’s Deli (wings). Two bands will be performing: 1) Granny’s Got a Gig (blue grass) and 2) Chris Lee (steel drums). Upcoming events: BBQ with Slap Wore Out (blue grass), Halloween hot dog supper partnered with Piggly Wiggly, and an adult only (21 and over) party in January. 6. 24 people, including adults and children, showed up to pick up trash in May. A big thanks was given to Brad and Lauren Painter for hosting! 7. Membership Drive: Russell Jones is producing a new logo/sticker for cars and will also come up with a targeted membership campaign. 8. Communication: Request was made to consolidate flyers that block captains had to pass out. 9. Legal Ordinances: A Zoning/Ordinance handout was introduced. The handout will be made available to all SFNA residents informing them of what the ordinances are and who to contact to report violations. It was suggested to add on to flyer 1) Noise ordinance 2) Rental – maximum occupancy 3) Storage containers. Larry remarked that as an association we would not enforce but inform.
