In response to legal concerns, staff has made procedural changes to the interim measures and has removed any impediments that prevented an umbrella neighborhood organization like Rosewood from submitting a request for protection under the interim measures. City Council has remanded the changes to the Planning Commission for their consideration and recommendation on June 2nd. Those changes made the process for adopting interim measures a map amendment, rather than a text amendment based upon CCN-recognized boundaries, and the process for a map amendment requires posting of the properties for both the Planning Commission meeting and City Council zoning public hearing.
As a result the Sherwood Forest Neighborhood will have green Planning Commission signs posted on our boundaries. The Planning Commission will consider the revised interim measures and make their recommendation at the June 2nd meeting. It is anticipated that this matter will be back before City Council at their next regularly scheduled zoning public hearing, which is July 16th. More information is available on the City of Columbia Planning and Zoning web site. http://www.columbiascgateway.com/events_pz.asp A pdf version of the revised interim measures can be reviewed at http://www.sherwoodforestneighbors.org/pdf/Interim_Ordinance_Revised.pdf.
