Community Notes
Dear Neighbors, As reported in The State newspaper on Thursday, City officials have been informed about a potential human case of West Nile Virus, and our staff has been spraying this week for mosquitoes.

This virus can be easily prevented by removing breeding grounds for mosquitoes in standing water, so I urge you to check and empty birdbaths, water pots and stands, and other places where water may collect outside. Here is a link (/www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvbid/westnile) to the CDC's information on West Nile Virus, which contains very helpful information on the virus, its detection and prevention. Sincerely,

Belinda Gergel
Columbia City Council, District 3 Representative
