These are the minutes from the SFNA June 8, 2010 General Meeting
SFNA Neighborhood Association Meeting June 8, 2010 Sherwood Forest Presbyterian Church In attendance: Dave and Mary Senema, Alice and Bob Long, Valerie Marcil, Henry Nechemius, Bud Tibshrany, Kathy Swanson, Lewis Kirk, Maria Harvin, Pat and Marvin Lare, Ed Tilden. Ed Tilden passed out the new SFNA vehicle stickers that will replace the former stickers. Lewis Kirk asked the crowd if static cling stickers were preferred over the stick on stickers and the consensus was affirmative so Lewis Kirk will be explore the price for these stickers. Lewis Kirk announced that he was active in the Gills Creek Watershed Society and passed pamphlets around re: this and asked anyone interested to please join. Ed Tilden encouraged everyone to become members if they weren’t already members. Staci Richey and Amy Moore from the city of Columbia Planning Department were there to present information regarding the upcoming vote on Interim Measures. If you have a vacant lot now you can basically build whatever you want on it. This measure is about prexisting lots or newly subdivided lots. Amy said she had not reviewed any demolitions in 2 years in our neighborhood. The city now has officially voted that if we vote yes it will be a permanent and not a 2 year only overlay. The new rule is called CC1 and it is very basic protection. City staff looks at demolition and relocation of structures 50 years or older to decide if they can be demolished or not. New construction on subdivided lots would be related to how far the structure is set back. There is also a height formula that will tell you how high the structure can be built. We will vote on the measure June 22 at Sherwood Forest Presbyterian Church. In the upcoming election, the majority of the votes cast will determine the whether the measure passes or not. Neighbors will come by and vote or vote by absentee before that on ballots the city will be mailing out. We discussed the Historic Preservation designation possibility for Sherwood Forest. Because there are many structures that are under 50 years old, consensus was that the hassle and process to become historical would not be worth the payoff. It was announced that Pat Decoursey has recently had quadruple bypass surgery but is back in the Arboretum working. Meeting was adjourned at 7:33 p.m. Respectfully submitted. Larry Hembree, Secretary, Sherwood Forest Neighborhood Association
