We are in the final phase of the Arboretum entryway project for this CANDO grant. I have scheduled the last three workdays for the masses. After these workdays, we'll have a few people help install benches one Saturday in September and then we'll reconvene in early October to plant trees. Final tasks are: Finish pulling ivy and uprooting cherry laurel shrubs from Wilmot bank Removing three stumps along Wilmot fence Weeding trash vines like cat briar, English ivy and Virginia creeper from Bloomwood side Cementing river stones in small retaining wall on Bloomwood side The three scheduled workdays are: this Sunday August 13 from 2-4 Saturday, August 26 from 12-2 Sunday, August 27 from 2-4 We will not have workdays the weekend of August 20th. This Sunday, we will be pulling ivy and clearing more of the Wilmot bank. Bring sharp blunted tools to dig, hoes, gloves in order to pull ivy and expect to get dirty. You might consider wearing long pants. Zap me an email if you think you might help this Sunday. We have had a lot of sweat equity in the project from many neighborhood association members and the results are amazing. We have also had an enormous amount of inkind services from people. When this project is over, I'll put a final report together with photos, anecdotes and a summary. Regards. Larry Hembree
