Do you know about our fantastic kindergarten? Sometimes we take for granted that everyone knows as much about our program as we know ourselves... and that is not always the case.

If I may, I would like to ask you to read a short list of attributes about what we consider to be THE best kindergarten in Columbia!

• We are fully licensed and accredited. Your child may leave our kindergarten program and enter first grade in any program in the state. Our children who choose this route prove very successful.
• We teach the South Carolina state standards required of kindergarten programs.
• Ms. Robin Branham has her degree in Early Childhood Education and has twenty-three years of experience in the early childhood classroom.
• Ms. Carol Summers has eighteen years of experience in the early childhood classroom.
• ALL of our teachers must complete fifteen hours of continuing education each year.
• We use Creative Curriculum, a center-based curriculum approved by SC and NAEYC (the National Association for the Education of Young Children), by whom we are accredited. Creative Curriculum is based on Erik Erikson’s stages of socio-emotional development and Jean Piaget’s theories of how children think and learn.
• We have very low teacher-to-child ratios, which is conducive to individualized instruction.
• Most children have been at SPCDC for a long time, which fosters a nurturing family atmosphere. This family atmosphere provides a safe and comfortable learning environment for children to explore and develop.
