Neighborhood Watch
There have been several burglaries and attempted auto break-ins in recent weeks in our neighborhood.

One burglary occurred between 2 and 3pm on March 10 in the 4000 block of Yale and resulted in the theft of electronic equipment of substantial value.

There have also been several reports of auto break-ins in the same area. A man with a flashlight was seen looking into parked cars, but escaped after police were called.

Another break-in occurred in Cameron Court on Wednesday, March 7 at about 6pm. The police were called and they dusted the house for fingerprints.

Another burglary was reported at 4119 Yale on March 12. A call was made to 911 but it was too late to apprehend the perpetrator. A slender white male was observed. We do not know what was stolen, but it was the same description as the man who was breaking into cars during the storm last week. Apparently he broke out a window and went inside.

We do not have any more information at this time about the recent spate of criminal activity, but we are working to obtain more information about these incidents. The Columbia Police have been contacted and have increased patrols in the area. Please spread the word to your neighbors!

If you observe criminal activity in the neighborhood, immediately call 911 and provide detailed information about the activity and the persons involved.

If you have additional information about these incidents or see suspicious individuals or unusual activity, call the City of Columbia non-emergency number at 252-2911.

One of the major projects of the Sherwood Forest Neighborhood Association is to prevent crime and promote the safety of our neighborhood. Commmunication and vigilance are cornerstones of any crime prevention strategy. You are encouraged get to know your neighbors, to observe the goings on in your area, and to report suspicious behaviour to the authorities.

If you have experienced a crime perpetrated against you or your property, report it immediately to the police. Then please alert your neighbors and your Block Captain and report it to Russell Jones 414-5811 safety@sherwoodforestneighbors.org, our Safety Committee Chairperson.
