City of Columbia Solid Waste Pickup Schedule
The City picks up household garbage from the green roll carts every Thursday. Recycling from the blue roll carts is picked up on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays. Roll carts are to be placed at curbside no later than 8am on the day of the collection and removed no later than 7:30pm on the day of collection.

Yard trimmings are picked up on Fridays. Loose or bagged leaves, branches (less than 6ft in length) and grass clippings are picked up. Bricks, concrete, other building materials are not accepted. City Ordinance requires homeowners to separate yard trimmings from other debris, such as broken lawn equipment, old furniture or other bulk items. Vegetation is diverted to the composting operation. The compost is available to citizens and can be picked up at the facility located off Shop Road on Humane Lane before the Animal Shelter.

Pet waste in plastic bags should not be placed in yard debris, but should be placed in the green household waste roll cart or otherwise properly disposed of.

For more information on the city's Solid Waste & Recycling program, see http://www.columbiasc.net/solid-waste. The site lists and describes the types of items that can be recycled. It also has a Waste Wizard which allows you to enter a street address and see the schedule at that location, and will also show pick up dates that are rescheduled due to a holiday or other special circumstance.

The city has provided an app for Apple devices at https://itunes.apple.com/app/id1014750023, and for Android at https://goo.gl/jiQqhk. You can get garbage and recycling schedules and reminders, and view your garbage and recycling schedule and receive collection notifications all from within this app.
