SFNA General Meeting May 14
The next general meeting of the Sherwood Forest Neighborhood Association will be held Tuesday, May 14 at the Sherwood Forest Presbyterian Church on the corner of Wilmot Avenue and Beltline Boulevard. Socialize with your neighbors from 6–6:30pm. The general meeting will be from 6:30-8:00pm.

We will have a potluck dinner at 6pm before our meeting begins. Please contact Valerie Marcil at 331-1138 or email arboretum@sherwoodforestneighbors.org if you can come and bring a dish or drinks - or surprise us! Please join us whether you can bring a dish or not! We'll have plenty of food!

Erich Miarka, the program coordinator of the Gills Creek Watershed Association, will speak to us about Gills Creek Watershed (since we are in the middle of it), why it is important, what we can do to preserve it, and what his association does to support the watershed.

In addition to our PACE officer update, we will also have short presentations about the city's Bike & Pedestrian Advisory Committee, and the Little Free Library concept.

May Bike Month
Bike Month is in May and the City of Columbia's Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee has a lot of activities planned from rides, to workshops, to kids' skills clinic and family bike ride, to movies at the Nickelodeon. The City website will have a list of all the activities soon, but for now the FREE kids' clinic and family bike ride which will take place on Saturday May 4th at Finlay Park, 9-11:30am, with a short, police-led bike ride through the Vista Greenway around 10am. BBQ Chicken for Dinner Thursday, April 25!
The 60th Annual BBQ by the Columbia Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of South Carolina will be held from noon to 8pm at the Federation Center of the Blind, 119 S. Kilbourne Road. One half BBQ chicken, corn-on-the-cob, green beans, and bread catered by Blue Marlin Signature Catering for only $8. Call 254-3777 for more information. Or go by their office to buy advance tickets.

Gills Creek Watershed Association Wine For Water Fundraiser
Wine for Water will focus on great wines and food from around the world. Tickets are $25 per person for Gills Creek Association members, and $30 for non-members. All proceeds from this event will benefit the annual operations of the Gills Creek Watershed Association. See gillscreekwatershed.org for more information.


Adopt A Street Trash Pickup
The Sherwood Forest Neighborhood Assocation has adopted our neighborhood streets for litter pickup. The next scheduled pickup is Saturday, May 18, 2013. We need a Beautification committee chairman to coordinate the pickup! This event is part of the Adopt-A-Street program of Keep The Midlands Beautiful.
