Hear ye, hear ye, here is your SHERWOOD FOREST CRIER May 13, 2011 Sherwood Forest Neighborhood Wide Yard Sale May 14 The SFNA in cooperation with the Sherwood Forest Presbyterian Church will sponsor a neighborhood wide yard sale on Saturday May 14 from 8am to 1pm. Neighbors can set up yard sales at their homes, and there will be a central yard sale held at the church at the same time. Individuals may set up tables at the church and man the tables for the duration of the sale. People may also donate items to be sold for the benefit of remodeling the nursery and playground at the church. (Items not sold will be taken to a local charity.) If you are going to participate, please email Lewis Kirk at communications@sherwoodforestneighbors.org or call 787-3450 with your address and the types of items you will have for sale. Adopt-A-Street Trash Pickup May 21 On Saturday, May 21 the Sherwood Forest Neighborhood Association will be picking up trash and cleaning up our neighborhood. We will meet at Brad Painter's home at 320 Kalmia Drive for coffee and doughnuts at 9am. At that time we will hand out trash bags and safety vests, and then clean up afterwards. This event is part of the Adopt-A-Street program of the City of Columbia. Sherwood Forest Neighborhood Block Party May 30 Come on out for Memorial Day in remembrance for those who have died serving our country! We will block off Kalmia between the Wilmot-Duncan 5-way intersection and Mimosa. This will be a pot-luck picnic from 4-7pm. Bring snacks, finger-food or other picnic food items to share. Check the SFNA web site for more details as they become available. USC Belser Arboretum Open House May 15 The W. Gordon Belser Arboretum will hold its next monthly Open House on Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 1-4 pm. A vibrant spring bloom continues the spectacular flowering of April, with many new plants in flower. The Trail and Spur Paths will be open for walking and 2 short guided tours are scheduled. At 1:30pm Sam Jacobs, our new Arboretum Assistant will give a presentation on Zen Gardens of Japan, including a walk to the Arboretum Zen Peace/Meditation Garden and a walk on the Zen Overlook Path. At 2:15pm Pat DeCoursey will lead a wildflower walk. The Arboretum staff looks forward to seeing you! SFNA Membership 2011 The Sherwood Forest Neighborhood Association wants you to join for 2011!
