Adopt-A-Street Trash Pickup|
On Saturday, August 29 the Sherwood Forest Neighborhood Association will be picking up trash and cleaning up our neighborhood. We will meet at Brad Painter's home at 320 Kalmia Drive for coffee and doughnuts at 9am. At that time we will hand out trash bags and safety vests, and then clean up afterwards. This event is part of the Adopt-A-Street program of the City of Columbia. More information about the Adopt-A-Street program is available on the Keep The Midlands Beautiful web site at http://www.keepthemidlandsbeautiful.com. Contact Brad at firstname.lastname@example.org
SFNA General Meeting November 10
The next General Meeting of the Sherwood Forest Neighborhood Assocation is scheduled for Tuesday, November 10 at 6:30pm at the Sherwood Forest ARP Church. There will be a neighborhood Meet & Greet at 6pm.
At our November meeting we will be electing officers to serve for terms of two years: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and three executive committee members-at-large. Russell Jones as past President is chair of the nominating committee and will accept suggestions. Please contact him at 414-5811 or by email at email@example.com for more information.
SFNA Membership Changes
At the August general meeting it was decided to change our current dues collection system of renewing anytime to an annual system, where everyone pays dues January 1 of each year. The current membership fee of $20 will be good for a calendar year. The SFNA will be conducting a membership drive in October, and any new members who join in October at $20 get full membership through 2010. Current members who have not paid dues in 2009 can pay $10 to renew for the rest of 2009. You must be a paid-up member to vote at the November meeting.
Sherwood Forest Neighborhood Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, so dues are tax deductible! Please take a moment to download, print and fill out the Sherwood Forest Neighborhood Survey located on the neighborhood website, www.sherwoodforestneighbors.org. Please mail the form and your payment to our treasurer Rhett Bailey at 511 Kalmia Drive, Columbia, SC 29205. You may also fill out an online version of the survey and pay your dues online using PayPal or your credit card or bank account. Renewing members need not fill out the survey.
Free Prescription Discount Cards
The City of Columbia is now offering FREE prescription discount cards to the public. As a result of the partnership between the City of Columbia and the National League of Cities, you can save money on your purchases of prescription drugs.
Enrollment is free. Nine out of 10 pharmacies accept the discount card, and one card is redeemable per household/family. To pick up discount cards, call the City's Human Resources Office at 545-3005, or see http://www.columbiasc.net/updatedpage/362 for more informations and pickup locations.
