SFNA General Meeting
Tuesday, November 12, 6:30pm-8pm
The next general meeting of the Sherwood Forest Neighborhood Association is scheduled for Tuesday, November 12 from 6:30pm-8pm at the Sherwood Forest Presbyterian Church on the corner of Wilmot Avenue and Beltline Boulevard. Join us at 6pm to meet and greet your neighbors!

The SFNA will elect our Board of Directors for 2 year terms. The officers are President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and three Executive Committee Members. If you are interested in serving, contact Mark Hering at 360-9527‬ or markhering@aol.com.

Refreshments will be served.

USC Belser Arboretum Open House: Native Plant Week
Sunday, October 20, 1-4pm
2pm Talk by Dr. Arlene Marturano

TAll are invited to the October Open House at the W. Gordon Belser Arboretum, celebrating SC Native Plant Week. After exploring the trails, stay to hear Dr. Arlene Marturano speak at 2pm about native plants and their essential role for wildlife like monarch butterflies. She will demonstrate tagging and releasing migrating monarchs. Look for migrating birds too, as we are seeing many varieties of warblers coming into the Arboretum as the season progresses.

SFNA Annual Halloween Hot Dog Party

Thursday, October 31, 5:30-7pm
The Halloween Party is a favorite neighborhood event for the kids and the young at heart. Dress up your kids, pets or significant other and come out to be neighborly! We will provide hotdogs, chili and chips. Neighbors can bring sides or desserts. BYOB. Then the kids can trick or treat in Sherwood Forest!

SFNA Adopt-A-Highway Clean Up
Saturday, November 16, 9:30-11am
Volunteers are invited to participate in the cleanup which is part of the Keep The Midlands Beautiful Adopt-A-Highway program. Meet at the Piggly Wiggly parking lot. The main crew will work from Devine to Rosewood on Kilbourne, then east to Beltline, and finishing at Sherwood Forest Church. Volunteers should wear closed toed shoes and bring your own gloves.

City of Columbia Municipal Elections
Tuesday, November 5, 2019
The City of Columbia will be be holding municipal elections on November 5, 2019.

The absentee voting period will begin on Monday October 7, 2019.

In District 3, which covers Shandon, Rosewood and the southeast, incumbent Moe Baddourah faces Will Brennan and John Loveday.

City Councilman Howard Duvall will defend his citywide seat against Amadeo Geere, Dylan Gunnels and and Sara Middleton.

To vote in the election, you must register with Richland County by October 7.

We are making an effort to send out these informational emails around the first of every month to keep neighbors up do date on neighborhood events, and other events and information of interest. It's cheaper and better for the environment not to print and pass out fliers! But we could all probably use the exercise!

If you have information of interest to the neighborhood, please pass it along and we may include it in a future Crier.
