Increased Neighborhood Identity - Improved Safety & Security
New street sign toppers and automobile stickers increase the identity of the Sherwood Forest Neighborhood.
One of the key objectives of your Sherwood Forest Neighborhood Association (SFNA) has been to increase a sense of identity for our neighborhood. We realize that when neighbors feel a sense of belonging they are more likely to get involved in neighborhood activities and get to know their neighbors better. That in turn leads to improved neighborhood safety & security as neighbors become more aware of what is going on around them. Aware and involved neighbors are willing to help each other out by watching each other's property and reporting suspicious actions to the police.

Door-To-Door Magazine Sales Scam
Be on the lookout for crews of young people, often girls, going door-to-door wanting your money for magazine subsriptions or other offers. They may claim that their parents lived on certain streets in the neighborhood and that they were trying to go to a baseball tournament or other recreational opportunity. They may say they are collecting money to donate books to children at Richland Memorial Hospital and that the team with the most donations would get an incentive. This is a known scam with inflated subscription prices or no actual subscription ever made. SFNA General Meeting November 10
The next General Meeting of the Sherwood Forest Neighborhood Assocation is scheduled for Tuesday, November 10 at 6:30pm at the Sherwood Forest ARP Church. There will be a neighborhood Meet & Greet at 6pm.

At our November meeting we will be electing officers to serve for terms of two years: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and three executive committee members-at-large.

SFNA Membership Changes
At the August general meeting it was decided to change our current dues collection system of renewing anytime to an annual system, where everyone pays dues January 1 of each year. The current membership fee of $20 will be good for a calendar year. The SFNA will be conducting a membership drive in October, and any new members who join in October at $20 get full membership through 2010. Current members who have not paid dues in 2009 can pay $10 to renew for the rest of 2009. You must be a paid-up member to vote at the November meeting.

Sherwood Forest Neighborhood Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, so dues are tax deductible! Please take a moment to download, print and fill out the Sherwood Forest Neighborhood Survey located on the neighborhood website, www.sherwoodforestneighbors.org. Please mail the form and your payment to our treasurer Rhett Bailey at 511 Kalmia Drive, Columbia, SC 29205. You may also fill out an online version of the survey and pay your dues online using PayPal or your credit card or bank account. Renewing members need not fill out the survey.
