SFNA will hold a regular General Meeting on Tuesday, November 11 at 6pm at Sherwood Forest ARP Church at the corner of Wilmot and Beltline. Meet and greet your neighbors at 6pm with the meeting to begin at 6:30pm.

The agenda includes updates on the street sign toppers, social events, the Interim Measures for Community Character Protection, and the neighborhood purchasing co-op.

Of course, as always please bring your suggestions, concerns, ideas, and neighbors with you! Remember, you must be a member to vote at the meeting, so join today.

USC Belser Arboretum Work Day Saturday, November 15
The Sherwood Forest Neighborhood Association will sponsor another monthly work day for the CANDO gardens at the Belser Arboretum on Saturday, November 15 from 8-11am. After a hiatus last month, we will focus on some clean-up and planting of fall flowers. Beverages and snacks provided. Please come join in the fellowship and keeping our neighborhood beautiful!

Please contact Valerie Marcil (738-0682, 331-1138, arboretum@sherwoodforestneighbors.org) if you plan to come out to work.

USC Belser Arboretum Open House
The November Open House will be held on Sunday, November 16 from 1-4pm. Please come to enjoy this lovely natural refuge in our neighborhood. The fall forest is delightful and Pat DeCoursey and her staff continue to make improvements and changes to enhance the myriad of micro-environments within the arboretum. The new permanent shelter for classes is looking wonderful!

An endowment fund has been established to provide financial support for the perpetual care of the Arboretum. Naming sponsorships are also available. More information on opportunities for giving to the Endowment is available at http://www.sherwoodforestneighbors.org/Article201.html.

Traffic Enforcement Measures
The SFNA succeeded in having four way stop signs installed at Kalmia and Blossom, and Kalmia and Yale, but our neighbors are still experiencing speeders in other areas. Recently, several pets have been hit. As a result, the Columbia Police Department will be focusing traffic and speed limit enforcement in our neighborhood in the next few weeks.

Gill Creek Watershed Survey
Sherwood Forest is in the Gills Creek Watershed which empties into the Congaree River and on through South Carolina's only national park, Congaree National Park. Unfortunately, Gills Creek is the most impaired urban waterway in Richland County. The Gills Creek Watershed Association is dedicated to restoring, protecting and improving this resource.

Our participation is encouraged by attending an educational meeting on November 14 (more details to come on the web site), and by responding to a short survey at http://www.surveygizmo.com/s/65013/gillscreekwatershedmanagementplan. The deadline to submit the survey is Saturday, November 8 so don't delay!

More information is available on the Gills Creen Watershed Assocation web site at http://www.gillscreekwatershed.com/
