Twelfth Night Party January 6th
All Adult Neighbors Welcome!

Regina Monteith will again host the annual Twelfth Night Party at her Bloomwood home, 530 Kilbourne Road from 6–10pm Friday, January 6, 2012. All Sherwood Forest neighborhood adults are welcome. If you are able we ask that you bring a snack, entrée or dessert to share. Beer, wine and soda will be provided. Marvin Lare found the baby Jesus in last year’s Three Kings Cake, so he is providing this year’s cake.

Twelfth Night marks the end of Christmastide, the twelve days of Christmas, and the Epiphany, the day that the Wise Men, following the star in the East, found Jesus in Bethlehem. This year Twelfth Night falls on January 6th.

Last year over 50 neighbors attended, and everyone had a great time! Please RSVP to our Social Chairwoman, Ashley Norton at social@sherwoodforestneighbors.org or by phone at 803-799-7904 (H), 803-238-3485 (C). Let her know how many will be coming and what food you can bring.

Sherwood Forest Neighborhood General Meeting
The next general meeting of the Sherwood Forest Neighborhood Association will be Tuesday, February 14 at the Sherwood Forest Presbyterian Church on Beltline Blvd. 6–6:30pm is time for socializing with neighbors, and 6:30-8:00pm is the general meeting. Submit agenda items or topics of discussion to the association president, Ed Tilden at president@sherwoodforestneighbors.org.

To review the minutes of past meetings go to our website at http://www.sherwoodforestneighbors.org/Topic7.html

Neighborhood Crime Watch
Our new Resident Patrol Officer is MPO Nick Scott (394-0960, niscott@columbiasc.net). MPO Scott is newly assigned to the PACE team, and he has replaced MPO Tim Baire as our neighborhood liaison. He will be at our February 14 general meeting to introduce himself and to give us a rundown on neighborhood crime issues.

If you have experienced a crime perpetrated against you or your property, report it immediately to the police by calling 911. To report suspicious activity, call 911 or the non-emergency number 252-2911 or our new Resident Patrol Officer MPO Nick Scott (394-0960, niscott@columbiasc.net).

Volunteer Opportunities With SFNA
Neighborhood Association Secretary Position Now Open
Our association secretary, Larry Hembree, had to resign because of his total involvement with opening the new Nickelodeon Theatre. Larry has been a valuable contributor to our association over the years including stints as the President, Vice President and Secretary, and his service as an officer will be greatly missed!

Anyone who is interested in serving as the association secretary please contact the President, Ed Tilden, at president@sherwoodforestneighbors.org or by phone at 530-2436. The secretary is responsible for attending the general and special meetings of the association, and taking and publishing meeting minutes. The job does not take a lot of time, but it is very important to the running of our association.

We are also looking for a Beautification Committee chairperson to replace Brad Painter who has served in that position for a number of years and has done a great job! The primary responsiblity is to organize quarterly litter pick ups in the neighborhood in coordination with Keep The Midlands Beautiful. We have also adopted Kalmia Drive as part of their Adopt-A-Highway program.

Our current officers and committee chair persons are listed at http://www.sherwoodforestneighbors.org/Article350.html

SFNA has several openings for block captains and co-captains. Block captains are the backbone of our organization, so please consider volunteering. For a map of our zones and current block captains, see http://www.sherwoodforestneighbors.org/index.php?module=NukeWrapper&file=blockcaptainsmap.html
