Arboretum 2nd Anniversary and Endowment Campaign Kick Off
The University of South Carolina, the Friends of the Arboretum, and SFNA will celebrate the 2nd anniversary of the restoration of the Arboretum and host the launch of the USC W. Gordon Belser Arboretum Endowment Campaign on Monday, March 3 from 6pm to 7pm at the Sherwood Forest ARP Church on the corner of Wilmot and Beltline. The program will include a brief PowerPoint presentation of the history of the Arboretum as well as the current plans and activities.

The Arboretum will be open for trail walking (entry and exit from Bloomwood Gate only) from 4:30-5:30pm. Refreshments will be available at the ARP church from 5:30pm til 7:30pm so we encourage you to attend and learn about the Arboretum and meet your neighbors.

Mr. Christopher DeWolf of USC will explain the details of the Arboretum Endowment Fund which will allow the Arboretum to continue to be cared for and remain a jewel in our neighborhood.

Cleanup our Community Saturday, March 1
Keep the Midlands Beautiful seeks volunteers to help kick off the 2008 Great American Cleanup: Midlands Makeover with with a Community-Wide Cleanup Day on Saturday, March 1. The closest opportunity to SFNA is Gills Creek at K-Mart at Garner's Ferry and Jackson Boulevard. Meet at 9am at the back end of the K-Mart parking lot. Meet the Columbia City Council Candidates
The Neighborhood Associations of Shandon, Hollywood Rosehill, Oakwood Court, Rosewood and Sherwood Forest invite you to Meet the Columbia City Council Candidates: A Neighborhood Forum to be held on March 12th at 7pm at the Wesley Methodist Church, 2501 Heyward Street. Candidates for our City Council District 3 seat replacing Anne Sinclair include Brian Boyer, Belinda Gergel, and Reed Swearingen. Candidates for the at-large City Council seat include incumbent Daniel J. Rickenman, Cameron A. Runyan, Larry Holman (aka Nammu Muhammad), Lea Walker, and John Burbage.

Voter registration for the April 1 election ends on Friday, February 29. If you have not registered to vote or have recently moved into District 3 and not changed your voter registration, you must do this by Friday. This can be done in person at the Richland County Voter Registration Office, which is located at the County Office Building at 2020 Hampton Street. Or, you can do this by mail by downloading the form on the Richland County Voter Registration website (http://www.richlandonline.com/departments/voterregistration) and returning it postmarked no later than Friday, February 29th.
